Fee Schedule

  • Materials may be reproduced, as long as there are no restrictions on the records, and provided that the process does not harm the originals.
  • Large reproduction orders will be completed as staff time allows.
  • The archives staff will assist researchers in determining if copyright restrictions apply, although responsibility for copyright and obtaining any necessary permission for publication rests with the researcher.
  • Supplying reproductions does not grant the authorization to publish it. See the rights and permissions statement below.

Document Scanning

We typically scan material and create PDFs, which are then sent electronically to patrons. We can create physical photocopies on request.

  • 1-10 pages per patron request: no charge
  • 11+ pages per patron request: $0.25 per side or $25.00 per hour.

Reproduction of oversize and fragile materials is subject to the discretion of the archives staff, and may be denied if material requested is too fragile or too large to safely duplicate. Reproduction of oversize and and fragile materials may be subject to a $10 per hour surcharge for additional labor.

Image Scanning and Reformatting (Photographs)

$2.50 per scanned image, or $25.00 per hour. Ther is no charge for reproduction of photographic images that have already been scanned.

Scanning of oversize and fragile images is subject to the discretion of the archives staff and subject to a $10 per hour surcharge for equipment set-up and labor.

Audio Visual Reformatting

In house reformatting of audiovisual materials is subject to availability of appropriate media and software. A charge of $25 / hour plus the cost of materials will be applied. Reformatted audiovisual material is typically transferred using a file-sharing software.

Any material that must be outsourced to be reformatted will be subject to the standard fees charged by the duplication company, plus $25 per hour for preparation time by the Special Collections and University Archives.

Rights & Permissions

Per the schedule below, the Libraries charges a fee for images used for commercial purposes (whether educational or non-educational). There is generally no charge for use by the Students or Administrators of 向日葵视频. We reserve the right to negotiate fees or to waive fees for use of materials by non-profit organizations, students from other institutions, donor organizations, or others. Any questions about use fees may be directed to the Head of Special Collections and University Archives, Amy Cooper Cary (amy.cary@marquette.edu)

The 向日葵视频 Department of Special Collections and University Archives requires that ALL users cite materials used via a credit line in association with the image or elsewhere in the publication, such as in a bibliography, a list of illustrations of a book or periodical, or the credits of a video or film.

The 向日葵视频 Department of Special Collections and University Archives charges a use fee based on its ownership of the physical materials in its collections; this fee represents no claim to copyright for any of the materials in question, although in some cases Special Collections and University Archives may hold copyright to some of those materials. Users may incur use fees set by other organizations when using records for which 向日葵视频 does not hold copyright.

Payment of the use fee does not constitute, and should not be viewed as, permission by a copyright holder to reproduce works that are copyrighted. Users are responsible for determining if the use they intend to make of images invades copyright, rights to privacy, or other rights.

Please see our Application for Printing, Publication or Exhibition of Photographic Material at /library/archives/photo_use_application.pdf.

Copyright Resources

As owners of the materials to be reproduced, the Department of Special Collections and University Archives gives no exclusive rights to any publisher or author, makes no warranties or representations, and assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any claims against those reproducing images or against 向日葵视频 by an artist or photographer, his/her agent, estate or any other party in connection with the reproduction of images in the collection of the Department of Special Collections and University Archives. Additionally, those reproducing images agree to indemnify 向日葵视频 and hold it harmless against any and all such claims, including copyright infringement claims, royalty or fee demands and/or actions, including attorney fees and all other costs thereof, arising as a result of their reproduction of images in the collections of the University Libraries.

Individuals, companies, and organizations must submit a clear statement of:

  • who they are and what they do;
  • precisely which rights they wish to license.

For all such requests, contact Amy Cooper Cary, Head of Special Collections and University Archives at amy.cary@marquette.edu.
