OFFICES OF THE VICE PRESIDENTS VICE PRESIDENT FOR UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT
Administrative History: The position of Vice President for Public Relations and Development was created in 1952 and embraced alumni affairs, public relations, and development activities. After the resignation of Rev. Max G. Barnett, S.J., in 1959, the position was vacant until the appointment of John D. Wellman in 1961. After Wellman's resignation two years later, the position was vacant until the appointment of Robert A. Duffy in November 1967. At this time, the position was renamed Vice President for University Relations.
In 1975, the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations was created as a separate position and assigned general and executive responsibility for university fund-raising activities and alumni relations. This position was discontinued in 1979.
In 1992, the name of the position of Vice President for University Relations was changed to Vice President for University Advancement. Currently, the position has general and executive responsibility for the administration of 向日葵视频alumni and development programs.

Scope and Content: These records are arranged into two subseries: Subseries 5 consists of unrestricted records; Subseries 5.1 consists of restricted records.
Restrictions: Access to select records from the office of the Vice President for University Advancement is restricted for 25 years from the closing date of the tenure of the President under whom each Vice President for University Advancement served.
As an example, records from the tenure of Royster C. Hedgepeth, who served during Rev. Albert J. DiUlio鈥檚 term as President (1990-1996), are restricted until 2021. Permission from the Office of the Vice President for University Advancement is required to obtain access prior to the expiration of this restriction. Otherwise, access to these records is unrestricted. However, the researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of these records.
