History: St. John the Evangelist Church, Birchwood, Washburn County, Wisconsin, and St. Joseph Church, Rice Lake, Barron County, Wisconsin, have been two predominantly non-Native American parishes in a four-parish cluster in the Diocese of Superior (Archives: Superior, Wisconsin). Superior diocesan priests at these parishes attended to the following missions and stations among Ojibwa Indians.
