History: San Antonio was erected as a diocese from territory in the Diocese of Galveston, 1874, and elevated to an archdiocese, 1926. San Antonio and its predecessors have administered the following missions, parishes, and schools among Native Americans and persons of Native descent in Texas and adjacent lands in Mexico:
