History: St. Patrick Church and St. Joseph Church, Meridian, Lauderdale County, Mississippi, are two jointly administered predominantly non-Native American parishes in the Diocese of Jackson (Archives: Jackson, Mississippi). The Society of the Divine Word (Archives: Techny, Illinois) had formerly administered St. Joseph's. One of its former pastors, Father James Wendel, S.V.D. (1881-1920), had attended to two Native American (Choctaw) mission stations:

1915-1910s Hays station, Scott County
1915-1910s Lake station, Newton and Scott Counties
