History: The Baraga Country Catholic Community has been a cluster of three parishes in the Diocese of ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ(Archives: Marquette, Michigan). Two of the three parishes, St. Ann’s and Most Holy Name of Jesus – St. Kateri Tekakwitha, have served Native American (Ojibwa) parishioners.

Most Holy Name of Jesus – St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, Baraga:

1843	Father Frederic Baraga began evangelizing the Ojibwa Indians at L’Anse, where he established a school staffed by a lay teacher
1844-1957	Father Baraga founded Holy Name of Jesus Mission, which was administered by diocesan priests
1866-1906	Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (Archives: St. Louis, Missouri) staffed Holy Name of Jesus Day School
1881-1906	Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet staffed St. Joseph's Orphan Home for Boys, which also admitted girls beginning in 1902
1906-1954 (closed)	Sisters of St. Agnes (Archives: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin) staffed Holy Name of Jesus Day School
1906-1954 (closed)	Sisters of St. Agnes staffed St. Joseph's Orphan Home
1957-1971	Capuchins from Sacred Heart Friary, Baraga, administered Holy Name of Jesus Mission
