History: St. Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, an advocate for the poor and educational reformer, founded the Christian Brothers (a.k.a. Brothers of the Christian Schools) in France, 1725. They self-identify with the post-nominal initials, 鈥淔.S.C." and made their first U.S. foundation, 1845, after which they evangelized Native Americans through these provinces.
