History: St. Gaspar del Bufalo founded the Missionaries of the Precious Blood (a.k.a. Congregation of Missionaries of the Most Precious Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ) in the Papal States (now Italy), 1815. Previous Blood missionaries self-identify with the post-nominal initials, 鈥淐.PP.S.鈥 They made their first U.S. foundation in Ohio, 1844, and evangelized Native Americans in the United States through two provinces.
