History: The Vicariate Apostolate of Arizona was erected in 1868 for Arizona and southern New Mexico from portions of the Diocese of Santa Fe. The Diocese of Tucson succeeded the vicariate in 1897. The Tucson Diocese and its predecessors have administered the following Native missions, parishes, and schools in Arizona, Sonora, Mexico, and Texas (each mission, parish, or school is in Arizona unless noted otherwise).
