History: The Diocese of Phoenix was erected for central Arizona from territory in the Diocese of Tucson, 1969. The Phoenix Diocese reported 44,000 baptized Native American Catholics, 1999. Phoenix and its predecessors have administered the following Native missions, parishes, and schools.
