History: The Diocese of Memphis was erected for western Tennessee from territory in the Diocese of Nashville, 1970. Memphis established an Office of Multicultural Ministry with a Native American subcommittee and has served the following parishes and a school with some Native American (e.g. Cherokee, Shawnee) parishioners:
