History: The Diocese of Columbus was erected from territory of the Diocese of Cincinnati, 1868, and it lost territory to erect an adjacent diocese, 1944. The Columbus Diocese has served Sacred Heart Church, New Philadelphia, which has had with a few Native American (e.g. Maya) parishioners, 1970s-present.
