History: The Diocese of Buffalo was erected, 1847, for western New York from territory in the Diocese of New York. Buffalo lost territory when additional dioceses were erected, 1868-1896. Buffalo has served Native Americans through two parishes and has had an Office of Cultural Diversity, 2008-present.
