History: St. Benedict founded the Benedictines (a.k.a. Order of St. Benedict), ca. 529, who have self-identified with the post-nominal initials, 鈥淥.S.B.鈥 They are comprised of autonomous monastic houses or abbeys loosely governed by confederations known as 鈥渃ongregations.鈥 Benedictine monks (Engelberg, Switzerland) founded Conception Abbey, 1873, and is a member of the Swiss-American Congregation. Conception Abbey monks administered the following missions and parishes among the Hunkpapa Indians on the Standing Rock Reservation,
