History: The Diocese of Wichita was erected, 1887. Its area includes the former Osage Mission, St. Paul, Kansas.

Osage Mission:

Jesuits (Missouri Province) (Archives: St. Louis, Missouri) established and administered Osage Mission (Osage, Cherokee, Quapaw)

Jesuits established and administered the Osage Manual Labor School for Indian Boys and Girls (Osage, Cherokee, Quapaw); in part, Mother Bridge Hayden (1814-1890), S.L., and the Sisters of Loretto (Archives: Nerinx, Kentucky) staffed the school
