History: The Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Dublin, Ireland, migrated to Philadelphia, 1831, and self-identified with the post-nominal initials, 鈥淏.V.M.鈥� At the request of Bishop Mathias Loras, they moved to Dubuque, Iowa, 1843. Later, they evangelized Oglala Lakota Indians at Holy Rosary Mission, Pine Ridge, Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota, 1972-1982.
