History: Founded in Dublin, Ireland, in 1843, the Sisters of Mercy made their first U.S. foundation, 1843, and self-identify with the post-nominal initials, "R.S.M.". They established and administered the following provinces and regional communities, which with their predecessor motherhouses, staffed Catholic schools among Native Americans in the United States:
