DR. RICHARD E. BLACKWELDER COLLECTION PRELIMINARY INVENTORY

The Richard E. Blackwelder Collection has not been fully processed. The objective of this preliminary inventory is to provide interested patrons with a basic understanding of the secondary sources that Blackwelder collected about the life and work of J.R.R. Tolkien. An author- and subject-index to the collection is available within the the archives. Richard Blackwelder also contributed numerous editions and printings of Tolkien's work to the Department of Special Collections. These volumes, including Blackwelder's own writing (Tolkien Phraseology (1990), A Tolkien Thesaurus (1990), and Tolkien Portraiture (1993)) have been cataloged in , 向日葵视频Libraries' electronic catalog.

The collection is organized in old binders of different shapes and sizes. They are organized by theme and within each binder are arranged in alphabetical order with the author of the piece being the reference used to classify the entries.
