Scope and Content

This series consists of records related to McCarthy鈥檚 senate campaign races during election years 1944, 1946, 1952 and 1958, and his campaign support while in office during 1948. These files include correspondence on campaign messaging, press releases, expenditures, and contribution and support. Although McCarthy passed away in May of 1957, his senate campaign for 1958 was still in progress and has been described as such. There is a significant amount of material in support of McCarthy and his Senate races, including documentation of funding from donors and sponsors like Alice Roosevelt Longworth, Claire Chennault and Cecil Be DeMille.
