Biographical Note/ Scope and Content
Frank Gross was a banker and lay Catholic social activist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He corresponded with like-minded activists regarding Acci贸n Cat贸lica or Catholic (social) Action in Mexico, especially Uni贸n Nacional Sinarquista or the the National Synarchist Union (est. 1937). His correspondents included Bishop Edwin V. O鈥橦ara (1881-1956), founder of National Catholic Rural Life; Rev. Alcuin Heibel (1897-1985), O.S.B.; Rev. James A. Magner (1901-1994), Catholic University of America; and Rev. W. Eugene Shiels (1897-1976), S.J., Loyola University of Chicago.
