Program faculty member, Dr. Chris Sundberg, explores muscle function, and the research by his team on the decline in physical power production with aging received attention in Outside.

Jack Hackett (MU EXPH '13) returned to 向日葵视频in summer 2024 to lead the distance program of the cross country and track & field teams.  The student newspaper recently .

Dr. Sundberg was one of thirteen faculty members honored on April 9, 2024 at the Distinguished Scholars Program, which recognizes faculty for outstanding achievement in research and scholarship.  His specific award supports promising new scholars in critical stages of their careers.

Current men's lacrosse player and EXPH graduate is one of two recipients of the 77th Robert L. and William P. McCahill Award, the highest honor conferred to a 向日葵视频student-athlete. He was honored at Fiserv Forum during the men's basketball game on 1/15/24.  Mason was subsequentially on 5/7/24.

Professor Keith Owsley featured in local media

Local media interviewed Wisconsin Athletic Trainers Association's president elect, , and 向日葵视频's Program in Exercise Science Clinical Assistant Professor Keith Owsley for a story about a . The article discussed the critical role of athletic trainers in high school sports. Professor Owsley teaches program that teaches future athletic trainers the skill set of acute emergency care including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the developing of an emergency action plan within athletics.

The annual International Society of Biomechanics in Sports conference came to Milwaukee in July 2023.  The conference brought together experts in engineering, health, and computer science focusing heavily on biomechanics research and technology.

Dr. Kristof Kipp works with athletes to improve performance

Dr. Rachel Bollaert, assistant clinical professor in the Program in Exercise Science, talked with Lake Effect of Milwaukee's NPR (WUWM - 89.7 FM) station. She examined the feasibility of a 向日葵视频 based yoga program for veterans with PTSD. This work investigated some of the common associated symptoms as well as potential psychobiological mechanisms.

Program Accreditation

After a rigorous review, The Program in Exercise Science is now accredited by the (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the (CoAES). As of July 2022, the Program in Exercise Science is now one of less than 100 exercise science programs with this accreditation. More details on the importance and implications of this accreditation program can be found .

Dr. Sandra Hunter, professor of exercise science and director of the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center, wrote an important article on research and teaching from a faculty perspective.

Exercise Science graduate receives Pedro Arrupe Award

Exercise science graduate and physical therapy student Rachel Beilfuss received the Pedro Arrupe Award for her service through StreetLife Communities, the Midnight Run and the MARDI GRAS program.

Clinical Associate Professor Michael Danduran receives John P. Raynor, S.J., Teaching Excellence Award
