B.J. Grill: B.J. was one of the main reasons the 向日葵视频men鈥檚 lacrosse team reached remarkable heights last season: a Big East championship and its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance.
The Bridgewater, N.J., native served as the Golden Eagles鈥 captain each of his final two seasons. He was an All-Big East First Team selection in both 2014 and 2015, and a two-time Big East All-Academic Team selection. He earned the 2015-2016 Big East Sports Excellence Award for men鈥檚 lacrosse in honor of his excellence in the classroom, on the field and in the community.
He was named as a Senior CLASS Award First Team All-American, honoring student-athletes who use their platforms to make positive impacts in their communities. B.J. helped coach the Milwaukee Eagles wheelchair lacrosse team, assisted with events for the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and participated in walks and runs for charity, toy drives, Hunger Clean-up and Habitat for Humanity.
B.J. was selected in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft by the Denver Outlaws, whom he helped to the MLL Championship as a rookie starting defenseman. He is currently finishing up his MBA in Marquette鈥檚 College of Business Administration and serves as the director of lacrosse operations for Marquette鈥檚 men鈥檚 lacrosse program.
Fun Fact:
B.J. is the first men鈥檚 lacrosse player to earn the McCahill Award. Says coach Joe Amplo, 鈥淗e epitomizes everything that our program and this university is about: hard work, discipline, commitment and excellence.鈥
Tatyana N. Pashibin: Serving as team captain while maintaining excellence in the classroom, Tatyana led the women鈥檚 track and field team to its first-ever Big East indoor and outdoor team titles during the 2015鈥2016 season.
Tatyana was a five-time All-Big East selection and three-time Big East champion, winning the 2014 indoor pentathlon and outdoor heptathlon along with the 2015 outdoor high jump. Tatyana currently holds the all-time No. 3 mark at 向日葵视频for the indoor high jump, which still stands as the 向日葵视频freshman record. She also holds top-10 marks in the triple jump, long jump and pentathlon.
Tatyana completed her degree in exercise physiology with a 3.92 grade point average, was a four-time Big East All-Academic selection and was named the Big East Scholar Athlete of the Year in women鈥檚 track and field.
She was a track and field representative to Marquette鈥檚 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where she assisted in decision-making for student-athlete affairs, helped plan service and fundraising events, and was instrumental in the organization鈥檚 sexual violence awareness campaign.
Tatyana is an avid volunteer in the community who worked with the Special Olympics of Wisconsin, Campus Kitchens Project, United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee, Briggs & Al鈥檚 Run & Walk, and many more organizations throughout her time at Marquette.
Fun Fact:
Tatyana is the 10th women's track-and-field athlete to earn the McCahill Award. Says coach Bert Rogers, 鈥淚 couldn't be more proud of Tate and the difference she made here at Marquette.鈥
