Classics Major

ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ our program

Learn the languages that poets, philosophers and the pioneers of democracy spoke thousands of years ago. Explore the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome through the study of their art, literature, philosophy, politics and history. As a classics major, you’ll discover how the past still has a major influence on the present.

Whether you go on to graduate study or professional work in classics, theology, philosophy, law, public service, education or another field, the critical analysis, detail-oriented focus, and historic and philosophical grounding developed through the classics major will be invaluable skills that will set you apart.

At Marquette, we learn and practice everything through the lens of service to others. That means you’ll be able to apply your understanding of the roots of our world today in shaping a better tomorrow.
